Lip enhancement (using fillers or fat transfer)

Enhance natural beauty… You may be looking to give new definition to your lips, restore that youthful fullness, or just have that plump pout you’ve always dreamed of. Lip enhancement is a simple procedure designed to enhance your natural beauty.

How long will it take?

Lip enhancement is carried out in our out patients department. Procedure takes 45-90 minutes

What can I expect?

Fillers are injected into the lips usually after a local anaesthetic injection and last from 6-9 months depending on the type of filler used.

Initially, the lips look rather swollen but this settles over 48-72 hours as the local anaesthetic wears off and some off the filler is absorbed.

Fat transfer is performed under Local Anaesthetic and involves taking a thin strip of fat and dermis (lower level of skin) from the abdomen and sliding it into the lip through two tiny incisions.

Initially, the lip looks rather swollen but this settles over 48-72 hours as the local anaesthetic wears off and some of the fat is absorbed.

Sutures are removed (if not dissolving) in 7-10 days.

The scars will need moisturising (with a bland moisturiser) and massaging for at least one month to help with the final result.

Minor discomfort may be experienced which can be easily controlled with painkillers of your choice.

Bathing/showering is allowed.

Sun block should be worn for 18-24 months over the affected areas as they will be prone to burning.
