Blepharoplasty - Upper eyelid skin reduction (Out Patient Treatment)

Your best feature… By reducing the puffy bags beneath your eyes, and lifting upper lids, you will look more youthful and feel more confident. Make the most of your best, and most important feature.

How long will it take?

The procedure takes about 1-1.5 hours.

What can I expect?

The procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic in the minor operations room in out patients. Following surgery there may be minimal discomfort which can be easily controlled with painkillers of your choice.

If your consultant surgeon has used stitches and tape, these are removed in 5-7 days.

Bruising and swelling are usually minimal but sleeping on a few extra pillows may be of benefit, and ice may help.

Make up may be applied to the scars once the sutures have been removed.

The scars should be moisturised and massaged daily using a bland moisturiser for a minimum of 1 month.

Bathing/showering is allowed so long as care is taken not to get the dressings wet.

Sun block should be worn for 18-24 months over the affected areas as they will be prone to burning.

It takes roughly 2 weeks for everything to settle.

Special Notes

As you have had a local anaesthetic, it is strongly advised that someone drives you home.

No GP referral necessary
