The adenoids help fight off infection from germs that are breathed and swallowed. They are part of a group of lymphoid tissues like the glands in the neck or the tonsils.Adenoidectomy is performed under a general anaesthetic and usually takes around 20 minutes. The surgeon with remove the adenoids through the mouth, and place a pack in the back of the nose until the bleeding stops.
You will be discharged when you are feeling well enough, usually the same day.
