Brow Lift

With age, skin naturally begins to look tired with lines setting in on the forehead acting as a clear indicator of your age. Sagging eyebrows are one of the main concerns for elders, and a brow lift can do wonders for restoring a more youthful appearance above the eyes.

What Does This Surgery Involve?

The surgeon will usually make an incision just behind the hairline to minimise any visible scarring, roughly from ear to ear. The skin will then be tightened to the required degree, and in some cases, tissue, muscle, and skin will be manipulated or removed. Once complete, the incision will be closed and then bandaged. The surgery itself usually takes between one and two hours to complete.

A brow lift will usually take place under general anaesthetic, which means you will need to stay in the hospital overnight. When it's time for you to leave the hospital, you will be given a follow-up appointment with your consultant, and/or the dressing clinic for the removal of any stitches - together with any medication prescribed.

What Are The Benefits Of This Surgery?

A brow lift presents many advantages for those who choose to undergo the treatment. Some of the benefits include:

  • A more youthful-looking area above the eyes
  • Noticeably less prominent wrinkles
  • Rejuvenated confidence

Recovery After Surgery

It is recommended that you arrange at least a week off work in order to allow the brow area to heal. While the bandage should be ready to be removed after a couple of days – the area will be tender during this time but should heal quickly.

Strenuous activity should be avoided for a minimum of three weeks after undergoing endobrow surgery.

Planning your long-term goals with your consultant, and researching the procedure, will reinforce whether surgery is the right option for you.Surgery is not without risk so you should be sure in your reasons for wanting to go ahead. It is important that your expectations are realistic and that the advantages to you always outweigh the risk of surgery.

Take this checklist to your consultation with the surgeon performing the procedure. Discuss each topic with your surgeon to help you make the decision that is right for you before having surgery.

Think carefully before having cosmetic surgery

Never feel rushed or pressured into giving your consent. Be wary of surgeons or staff who try to convince you to go ahead. Take plenty of time to make your decision.

We strongly advise you take at least two weeks after your consultation with the surgeon performing the procedure to think things through before surgery.
